How to use this price comparison
- Pick the monthly amount you realistically consume (e.g. 10 g).
- Set the quality tier — Standard matches the FOPH 2026 pilot average, Premium sits above (indoor, > 20 % THC).
- Compare the four channels: club (association), street market, pilot programme and pharmacy.
- Weigh secondary criteria too (legality, lab testing, waiting time) — not just the raw CHF/g price.
What the numbers actually mean
- CHF per gram
- Final price per gram of dried flower, VAT included, shipping excluded.
- Monthly cost
- Per-gram price × selected amount — excludes the one-off club membership fee.
- Savings vs. most expensive channel
- Delta to the top price (usually pharmacy) — shows relative advantage.
- Standard vs. Premium
- Standard: ~15–18 % THC, outdoor/greenhouse. Premium: > 20 % THC, indoor, hand-trimmed.
Methodology & sources
All prices come from public sources (Q1 2026) and are refreshed quarterly. Club prices reflect averages of existing Swiss cannabis social club orders. Pilot prices use published study protocols. Pharmacy prices come from HCI/GDS lists. Street-market data from the Addiction Switzerland panel and local surveys.

Further reading
Why is the club price so much lower?
Associations operate at cost, without commercial margin or pharmacy logistics. Membership fees cover fixed costs. →
Can I join the pilot programme?
Only with residence in a pilot city (Zurich, Bern, Basel, Lausanne, Geneva, Lucerne, Winterthur) and after screening. →
Why are pharmacy prices so high?
Medical cannabis falls under the medicinal products act, GMP production and pharmacy margin — plus mandatory prescription. →
Methodology: how this tool calculates
The price comparison puts Swiss supply channels side by side: club, online shop, retail store, pharmacy and pilot trial. What is compared is the effective price per gram including secondary costs, not the shelf price.
The calculation step by step
1. Define the channels
Each channel carries its own cost structure: membership, retail rent, prescription requirements or study conditions.
2. Build the effective price
List price plus shipping, minimum order value and fees, divided by the quantity actually received.
3. Normalise quality tier
We compare like for like (e.g. indoor flower) so outdoor is never benchmarked against premium.
4. Range instead of point value
Because prices vary regionally and seasonally, each channel gets a band with a median.
Worked example
- Online shop: CHF 9/g list + CHF 7 shipping on 10 g = CHF 9.70/g effective.
- Club: CHF 7.50/g at 10 g, free shipping above the minimum = CHF 7.50/g effective.
- Pharmacy (medical): substantially higher, but prescription-bound.
- Result: roughly 20–25% difference between club and online shop at the same quality tier.
Limits of the method
- Prices are snapshots and move with harvests, supply and promotions.
- Medical channels are not directly comparable because indication and reimbursement play in.
- Quality cannot be fully quantified; price per gram remains an approximation.
Data basis
- CannabisClub.ch price index and channel datasets (public CSV/JSON).
- Collected offers from Swiss shops and published pilot-trial pricing.
Frequently asked questions about the tool
Why is the club cheaper than a shop?
Volume bundling, direct sourcing and leaner distribution reduce the margin baked into the final price.
Is the pharmacy more expensive?
Per gram yes, because medical grade, prescription and documentation duties and manufacturing requirements are priced in.
How current are the figures?
They come from our price index and are refreshed periodically; each dataset carries its date.
