Dabbing — vaporize concentrates safely
Dabbing vaporizes concentrates (rosin, bubble hash, live resin) on a heated surface — no smoke, only vapor. Strange at first, but the cleanest and most efficient way to consume.
TL;DR: Dabbing = place concentrate on a heated banger and inhale the vapor. Optimal 160–200 °C (low-temp) for terpenes, 200–230 °C for stronger effect. E-rigs (Puffco, Focus V) make it daily-driver friendly. Safe with the right temp and dose — beginners: rice-grain sized amount.
What you need
Classic setup: dab rig (mini bong, CHF 100–300), quartz banger, butane torch, carb cap, dab tool. Optional: terp pearls for even vaporization.
Modern alternative: e-rig (Puffco Peak Pro CHF 380, Focus V Carta 2 CHF 260). Precise temperature, no torch, battery-powered. Much more comfortable for daily use.
Temperature guide
160–180 °C = low-temp dab: max terpene profile, mild effect, recommended for live resin and live rosin.
180–200 °C = mid-temp: balanced flavor/effect. Sweet spot for most consumers.
Dose & workflow
Beginner dose: rice-grain amount (~0.02–0.05 g). On 70 % CBD rosin that's 14–35 mg CBD.
Advanced: 0.05–0.10 g per dab. Not more than 3–4 dabs per session.
Safety & maintenance
Clean the banger after each session with cotton swab + isopropanol — residues oxidize and change flavor + temperature behavior.
Drink water — dabs dehydrate more than flower.
FAQ
Is dabbing healthier than smoking?
Yes — pure vapor, no plant combustion. At low-temp (<200 °C) the aerosol profile is much cleaner than a joint.
What does a starter setup cost?
Classic: ~CHF 200 (rig + banger + torch + cap). E-rig: from CHF 260 (Focus V Carta 2). Long-term the e-rig is cheaper (no butane).
Can I dab CBD oil?
No — regular CBD oil contains carrier oil (MCT, hemp seed) that must not be vaporized. Only concentrates (rosin, hash, live resin) are dabbable.
Is dabbing legal in Switzerland?
Yes, with concentrates from <1 % THC flower. Consumption location (private vs public) falls under cantonal rules — when in doubt, consume privately.
