Getting a cannabis prescription in Switzerland is more complicated – and more expensive – than most people think. A standard 15-minute video consultation with a Swiss doctor for medical cannabis usually costs CHF 190. Members of our club who are residents in Switzerland book the same consultation with a Swiss physician for just CHF 50.

Medical cannabis in Switzerland: where we stand

Since August 2022 any licensed Swiss doctor can prescribe medical cannabis without a special FOPH permit. In practice access is still hard: many GPs won't prescribe, pharmacy prices are high, and the first consultation alone can be painful on the wallet.

How the prescription flow works

Members with Swiss residency book a CHF 50 video consultation directly from their dashboard. The doctor reviews your situation (chronic pain, sleep disorders, MS, ADHD, migraines, chemo-induced nausea, etc.) and – if medically indicated – issues a prescription for medical cannabis. You then fill it at any Swiss pharmacy.

Why CHF 50 instead of CHF 190?

We negotiate collectively for the community. A Swiss doctor works with us because we bundle volume and handle the admin. That saves you CHF 140 per consultation – money better spent on the actual therapy.

What does medical cannabis cost at the pharmacy?

Pharmacies currently buy flower for around CHF 3.50/g and resell at CHF 10–15/g – a 200–300% markup. For now it's the only legal channel for THC cannabis in Switzerland, so that's how it has to be.

Our goal: wholesale prices for members

Once Swiss law allows it, our members will be able to buy medical cannabis at wholesale prices – closer to the CHF 3.50/g pharmacies pay today. That's what we're building the Cannabis Social Club for: collective bargaining power, direct producer sourcing, no middleman margin.
