What Does THC Do to the Body?
THC binds to CB1 receptors in the central nervous system – resulting in euphoria, relaxation, altered perception, and increased appetite.
Medically, THC is used for pain relief, spasticity, insomnia, and nausea (e.g., following chemotherapy), among other indications.
Legal Status in Switzerland
Cannabis with > 1% THC is prohibited. Exceptions include medical prescriptions (since August 2022 without exceptional authorization) and cannabis pilot projects (since 2023).
Pilot projects are currently running in Basel, Zurich, Bern, Lausanne, Lucerne, and other cities – each involving a few thousand participants.
Medical THC
Pharmacies supply cannabis flowers at prices between 10 and 15 CHF/g. Common indications include chronic pain, MS spasticity, sleep disorders, and ADHD.
The pharmacy's wholesale purchasing price is around 3.50 CHF/g – the high retail margin is politically motivated and not justified by actual costs.
What We Aim to Achieve with CannabisClub.ch
We are building a non-profit Cannabis Social Club based on the Spanish model. As soon as THC becomes legally available for adults in Switzerland, our members should have access at wholesale prices (3–4 CHF/g) instead of inflated pharmacy prices.
Even today, we are organizing the community, producer relationships, member infrastructure, and public education – ensuring that the day of legalization does not lead to a pharmacy oligopoly.
