Shell is hard and dark brown with 'tiger stripes' — pale green seeds are immature.
Germination rate of reputable seed banks: 90–95%. Discount seeds are often below 60%.
Storage: cool (4–8 °C), dark, airtight. Viable for germination for 3–5 years.
