Chemistry
Chemically, THCP is a terpenophenol (meroterpenoid). THCP arises via THC-analogous enzymatic cyclisation of a heptyl-chain CBGA homolog (CBGPA). Boiling point ~175 °C. It is lipophilic, sensitive to heat and light, and slowly oxidises in air. Analytically it is quantified by HPLC (acid form) and GC-MS (neutral form after decarboxylation) and appears on every modern Swiss batch COA.
Occurrence in cannabis
In cannabis, THCP is produced in the trichomes of the female flower. Typical concentrations: in Spuren < 0.1 %, in einzelnen italienischen Sorten (FM2) bis 0.29 %. Swiss legal status
In Switzerland THCP falls under the Narcotics Act as a THC analogue. Trade, import and possession without authorisation are punishable; supposedly 'legal' online offers are not legally protected.
