Chemistry
Chemically, H4CBD is a terpenophenol (meroterpenoid). H4CBD is produced industrially by hydrogenating both double bonds of CBD (catalyst Pd/C, H₂). Boiling point ~210 °C. It is lipophilic, sensitive to heat and light, and slowly oxidises in air. Analytically it is quantified by HPLC (acid form) and GC-MS (neutral form after decarboxylation) and appears on every modern Swiss batch COA.
Occurrence in cannabis
