Chemistry

Chemically, Δ10-THC is a terpenophenol (meroterpenoid). Δ10-THC is barely present in the plant. Industrial production via acid-catalysed isomerisation of CBD — purification is demanding. Boiling point ~175 °C. It is lipophilic, sensitive to heat and light, and slowly oxidises in air. Analytically it is quantified by HPLC (acid form) and GC-MS (neutral form after decarboxylation) and appears on every modern Swiss batch COA.

Occurrence in cannabis
