CBGV — cannabinoid profile
CBGV (Cannabigerovarin) is a cannabinoid that occurs naturally in cannabis or is derived from its precursors. Molecular formula C₁₉H₂₈O₂, molar mass 288.4 g/mol. Among the 100+ identified cannabinoids, CBGV belongs to the non-psychoactive group. This page consolidates current knowledge on chemistry, occurrence in cannabis, receptor action and Swiss legal status — for information only.
CBGV · C₁₉H₂₈O₂ · 220 °C · non-psychoactive · in Switzerland: legal.
Chemistry
Chemically, CBGV is a terpenophenol (meroterpenoid). CBGV forms from decarboxylation of CBGVA, itself built via divarinic acid. Boiling point ~220 °C. It is lipophilic, sensitive to heat and light, and slowly oxidises in air. Analytically it is quantified by HPLC (acid form) and GC-MS (neutral form after decarboxylation) and appears on every modern Swiss batch COA.
Occurrence in cannabis
In cannabis, CBGV is produced in the trichomes of the female flower. Typical concentrations: Spuren, in Varin-selektierten Sorten höher. Content depends on genetics, light spectrum, harvest timing and storage. Specific strains are linked dynamically below from our strain database.
Swiss legal status
CBGV is not regulated in Switzerland. Swiss legal note: cannabis with ≥ 1 % THC is a narcotic under the Narcotics Act. CBD products below 1 % THC are legal. Effect descriptions are informational and are not therapeutic claims.
