Chemistry

Chemically, CBG is a terpenophenol (meroterpenoid). CBGA (the acid form) is the central precursor, enzymatically branched into THCA, CBDA and CBCA. Boiling point ~220 °C. It is lipophilic, sensitive to heat and light, and slowly oxidises in air. Analytically it is quantified by HPLC (acid form) and GC-MS (neutral form after decarboxylation) and appears on every modern Swiss batch COA.

Occurrence in cannabis

In cannabis, CBG is produced in the trichomes of the female flower. Typical concentrations: meist < 1 %, in CBG-selektierten Sorten bis 15 %. Content depends on genetics, light spectrum, harvest timing and storage. Specific strains are linked dynamically below from our strain database.

Swiss legal status
