CBDV — cannabinoid profile

CBDV (Cannabidivarin) is a cannabinoid that occurs naturally in cannabis or is derived from its precursors. Molecular formula C₁₉H₂₆O₂, molar mass 286.4 g/mol. Among the 100+ identified cannabinoids, CBDV belongs to the non-psychoactive group. This page consolidates current knowledge on chemistry, occurrence in cannabis, receptor action and Swiss legal status — for information only.

Chemistry

Chemically, CBDV is a terpenophenol (meroterpenoid). CBDV is the propyl analogue of CBD; formed from CBGVA via CBDA synthase. Boiling point ~220 °C. It is lipophilic, sensitive to heat and light, and slowly oxidises in air. Analytically it is quantified by HPLC (acid form) and GC-MS (neutral form after decarboxylation) and appears on every modern Swiss batch COA.

Occurrence in cannabis

In cannabis, CBDV is produced in the trichomes of the female flower. Typical concentrations: meist < 1 %, in Indica-Landrassen (z. B. aus Pakistan) höher. Content depends on genetics, light spectrum, harvest timing and storage. Specific strains are linked dynamically below from our strain database.

Swiss legal status

CBDV is not classified as a narcotic in Switzerland. Swiss legal note: cannabis with ≥ 1 % THC is a narcotic under the Narcotics Act. CBD products below 1 % THC are legal. Effect descriptions are informational and are not therapeutic claims.
