Chemistry
Chemically, CBCA is a terpenophenol (meroterpenoid). CBCA is produced from CBGA by CBCA synthase; decarboxylation yields CBC. Boiling point ~220 °C. It is lipophilic, sensitive to heat and light, and slowly oxidises in air. Analytically it is quantified by HPLC (acid form) and GC-MS (neutral form after decarboxylation) and appears on every modern Swiss batch COA.
Occurrence in cannabis
In cannabis, CBCA is produced in the trichomes of the female flower. Typical concentrations: meist < 1 %, in einzelnen CBC-selektierten Chemovaren bis 5 %. Swiss legal status
