CBC — cannabinoid profile
CBC (Cannabichromene) is a cannabinoid that occurs naturally in cannabis or is derived from its precursors. Molecular formula C₂₁H₃₀O₂, molar mass 314.5 g/mol. Among the 100+ identified cannabinoids, CBC belongs to the non-psychoactive group. This page consolidates current knowledge on chemistry, occurrence in cannabis, receptor action and Swiss legal status — for information only.

Chemistry
Chemically, CBC is a terpenophenol (meroterpenoid). CBC arises from CBGA via CBCA synthase and subsequent decarboxylation. Boiling point ~220 °C. It is lipophilic, sensitive to heat and light, and slowly oxidises in air. Analytically it is quantified by HPLC (acid form) and GC-MS (neutral form after decarboxylation) and appears on every modern Swiss batch COA.
Occurrence in cannabis
In cannabis, CBC is produced in the trichomes of the female flower. Typical concentrations: 0.1–1 %. Content depends on genetics, light spectrum, harvest timing and storage. Specific strains are linked dynamically below from our strain database.
Swiss legal status
CBC is not listed as a narcotic in Switzerland and is common in full-spectrum CBD products. Swiss legal note: cannabis with ≥ 1 % THC is a narcotic under the Narcotics Act. CBD products below 1 % THC are legal. Effect descriptions are informational and are not therapeutic claims.
