  • Active projects: Zurich, Basel, Bern, Lausanne, Winterthur/Baden
  • Evidence base for national cannabis regulation

Detailed answer

Since May 2021, the revised Article 8a of the Narcotics Act allows scientific pilot trials with cannabis. The goal is to collect data on consumption, health, black-market reduction and youth protection before deciding on national regulation. Participation is limited to adults resident in the participating city who already consume cannabis. Distribution happens in licensed pharmacies, social clubs or specialised outlets — never on the black market. Prices, THC/CBD content and quantities are regulated. Active projects: **Züri Can** (Zurich, 2,100 participants), **Weed Care** (Basel), **SCRIPT** (Bern, via pharmacies), **Grashaus** (Winterthur/Baden), **Cann-L** (Lausanne). Interim results show no increase in problematic use, high satisfaction, and reduced reliance on the black market.
