Medical Cannabis for Spasticity — Switzerland 2026

Spasticity after SCI, stroke or in cerebral palsy often responds poorly to baclofen. Cannabis is an effective second-line — much cheaper for members.

Sativex is approved in Switzerland for MS spasticity, but used off-label in SCI, post-stroke spasticity and cerebral palsy. Observational evidence positive; RCTs mainly in MS. Starting dose 2–4 sprays/day, titrate to 12. CannabisClub members: 50 CHF flat instead of 190.

What the studies show

Hagenbach 2007 (RCT, n=25): THC capsules significantly reduced spasticity after spinal cord injury.

Grotenhermen 2003–2020 case series: cannabis effective in post-stroke spasticity when baclofen limited.
